As the Managing Director of Rivers Edge Stunts Limited, Curtis provided quality stunt action in movies, television shows and commercials for almost 30 years. Services included everything from initial script interpretation and breakdown, through storyboarding, location recces, filmed stunt testing and rehearsals, to the actual set-up, filming, coordinating and directing of the stunts or stunt sequences themselves.
It was on the movie set that Rivers first began his fascination with 'over coming fear' and the psychology behind that.
In the process he discovered all 'limiting beliefs' could be eradicated, which formed the initial spark that ignited his passion for writing, teaching, and now holistic life coaching.
He's added to his vast amount of media qualifications with an impressive array of coaching qualifications, which include Holistic Life Coaching, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Hypnotherapy and Emotional Freedom Technique.
Movie Stunts
Curtis worked on over 200 movies and television series, including Marvel hits like 'Captain America: The First Avenger' and 'Thor: The Dark World', as well as movies such as 'Fury' with Brad Pitt.
Other movies include 'The Da Vinci Code' with Tom Hanks, 'Robin Hood' with Russell Crowe,
and Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr. He also played a Death-Eater in 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix'.
He was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for his work on the movie 'Robin Hood'.
On the silver screen, he has 'Stunt Doubled' Christopher Lee, James Caviezal, Rupert Everett,
Mark Strong, Hugo Weaving, Jim Broadbent, Matthew MacFadyen, Patrick Bergen, Martin Kemp, Jimmy Nail, Graham McTavish, and Sam Douglas.
Television Stunts
Curtis also performed stunts in many popular television shows, including dramas like 'Waking the Dead', 'Foyles War' and 'DCI Banks', and soaps like 'Emmerdale', 'Coronation Street' and 'Hollyoaks'. Other popular TV shows include Doctor Who, Torchwood, Midsomer Murders and Whitechapel.
He was nominated for (and won) a Screen Actors Guild award for his work on Game of Thrones.
In his long, risk filled career, he has 'Stunt Doubled' dozens of TV stars, including Martin Clunes, Trevor Eve, Steven Tompkinson, John Borrowman, Malcolm Sinclair, James Purefoy, Charlie Cox,
Tim Dutton, Nick Brimble, Terrence Hillyer, Peter Marinker, Mark Charnock, and Toby Rothbriant.
Stunt Coordinating
Curtis was much sought after for his Stunt Coordinating abilities, which he demonstrated in film, television, and commercials for many, many years.
He coordinated movies like 'The Limehouse Golem' (with Bill Nighy and Olivia Cooke), 'Mad to be Normal with (Michael Gambon and David Tennant), 'Lies We Tell' (with Gabriel Byrne and Harvey Keitel), and 'Miss You Already' (with Drew Barrymore and Toni Collette).
He was also a regular choice for popular TV shows, such as BBCtv's award winning 'Casualty'
(68 episodes!) and ITV's award winning 'Vera' (32 episodes).
2nd Unit Directing
Curtis branched out mid-career to direct action on the 2nd Unit. While the Main Unit stayed with actors to capture dialogue for example, he went to a different location with the 2nd Unit to direct stunts or action sequences with both cast and stunt performers.
He directed everything from car chases to horse riding sequences, underwater scenes to fights and falls. 2nd Unit Directing credits include the movie 'Bliss', and popular TV shows such as
'The Good Karma Hospital', 'Whitstable Pearl', 'The Feed', 'Vera', and many more.
